The 2024 FIA Formula 2 calendar features 14 rounds with two races per event, including a new addition to the calendar in Qatar at the Lusail International Circuit.
A round at the Bahrain International Circuit kicks off the 2024 Formula 2 schedule, with the home of the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix a consistent fixture on the junior series calendar since the championship was renamed from the GP2 Series in 2017.
Imola, one of two rounds in Italy this year, will return to Formula 2 after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix event was cancelled in 2023 due to mass flooding in the area.
Circuit Zandvoort, the home of the Dutch Grand Prix, will not feature on the Formula 2 calendar in 2024 after being part of the championship in 2023.
How does the Formula 2 qualifying format work?
Each race weekend on the Formula 2 calendar sees the stars of tomorrow compete under the careful gaze of the Formula 1 paddock.
Qualifying at each Formula 2 round also sets the grid for both races, with the final order from the 30-minute session determining the Feature Race grid and the top 10 finishers flipped for the Sprint.
The Monaco Grand Prix round also sees Formula 2 run a staggered qualifying session. Unlike at any other round on the calendar, the even-numbered cars become Group A and the odd-numbered cars run in Group B.
Whichever driver posts the overall fastest lap time across Groups A and B in qualifying for the Formula 2 round in Monte Carlo takes pole position for the Feature Race. The grid is then filled in with the fastest driver from the other session taking P2 and their group occupying the even-numbered slots.
