Formula 3 experienced one of the craziest finishes to a title battle in history at the Italian Grand Prix, as Leonardo Fornaroli snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the final corner.
Even more impressive than his ability to win the championship so late on, was the statistic that he reigned victorious without taking a race victory.
With the Formula 3 season now over, attention turns to 2025 for most young drivers apart from the usual end of season test at Abu Dhabi.
With Oliver Bearman set to replace Kevin Magnussen for Haas at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, there will be a free seat at PREMA Racing in Formula 2 to fill, which could be taken by numerous drivers.
Peter Windsor wants to see ‘Jack Brabham-like’ driver receive Prema chance
Speaking on his YouTube, Formula 1 journalist Peter Windsor declared that he would like to see recent Formula 3 champion Fornaroli receive an opportunity.
He doesn’t have any contractual ties to any academy teams, therefore is free to negotiate his own drives for 2025, but a chance to impress at PREMA could help his future chances.

“I presume it’ll be an F3 driver. It would be nice if it was young Leonardo Fornaroli who’s just clinched the championship,” said Windsor.
“Not doing much at the moment, doesn’t have an academy drive with anybody – probably a good thing these days. I’d like to see him get an opportunity, see how good he is.
“He hasn’t won any races in the last two years but he’s won the championship and he’s certainly showed a lot of Jack Brabham-like fire in Monza.”
Who else could be in the frame for a PREMA seat?
Dino Beganovic, who finished sixth in the Formula 3 championship has also been tipped for the seat by Windsor, with a deep pool of talent available to PREMA at short notice.
“Dino Beganovic would be another one. He’s one of the Ferrari academy drivers under Jock Clear who could do quite well. He’s probably the most logical if you think about [it].”

Oliver Bearman is a Ferrari academy driver and has been with PREMA throughout his Formula 2 and 3 tenure.
Beganovic competed for the Italian outfit in Formula 3 this year, so stepping up sounds very logical if they have plans to promote him to one of their two seats for 2025.
PREMA will have two seats available for next year, with both Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Bearman graduating to Formula 1.
