It’s hard to decipher which Formula 3 team is the best, but PREMA and Trident are certainly the two main names in the conversation.
They’ve claimed 11 of the 12 titles on offer over the last six years, and seen many of their talents go on to enjoy more success as they progress through the motorsport ladders.
It makes them both an attractive location for upcoming drivers, especially those with aspirations of impressing Formula 1 teams.
The latest driver to sign a deal is current FRECA champion Rafael Camara, who has been confirmed as a Trident driver for 2025.
Why Prema have ‘fumbled’ Rafael Camara
Camara recently won the FRECA title with PREMA and is a Ferrari academy driver – a team with very strong ties to the team he just won some silverware with.
But he has been sent to another Italian organisation for next year, with Trident inheriting his services, and it’s causing a bit of a stir on social media.

One fan wrote “PREMA fumbled,” indicating that they are going to be missing out on his talents next season.
Another fan said “He should have had [the] PREMA seat,” which would have seen him partner Brando Badoer and Ugo Ugochukwu.
“I can’t believe Prema is not taking Rafael Camara to be honest… He was so good for them in FRECA…” said someone else who backs Camara’s talents.
And finally, another fan said “Trident? Interesting,” in response to the move.
How impressive was Camara in 2024?
Looking back at Camara’s FRECA season, the 19-year-old has only finished outside of the points twice with two races of the 20-race calendar to go.
Six victories have shown that he has kicked on from his campaign the season before when he only claimed one win and finished fifth in the championship.
In fairness to him, he was teammates with Mercedes’ new Formula 1 star Andrea Kimi Antonelli that year and that would be a difficult task for any young driver.

But he’s with Trident in Formula 3 now and has plenty to learn before he can start thinking about claiming race victories.
That starts with a test at Jerez this week, where much of next season’s field is preparing and getting as many laps in as possible.
