Sophia Florsch has responded to criticism aimed at her by fellow German Ralf Schumacher about her career prospects.
The 23-year-old is currently racing in Formula 3 with Van Amersfoort Racing in a season that has yielded no points with one round to go.
Florsch had scored six points and finished 23rd the year before, which has brought about criticism from Schumacher about whether she is ready to make a step up in her career.
Speaking with Formel1.de before the start of the 2024 season, the German driver responded to Schumacher’s comments and how she deals with the criticism she receives.

Schumacher is a former Formula 1 race winner, having won six races in his career that spanned 10 seasons with Jordan, Williams and Toyota, and is now regularly seen as a pundit on German television.
Florsch has made it clear that her main aim is to reach F1, but Schumacher has questioned whether her results are good enough to get there.
The 49-year-old was previously quoted by Auto Bild, saying: “Sophia Florsch, you can’t really take that seriously anymore.
“I have to say she’s certainly the best woman we have at the moment. I’m pretty sure [of] that in German motorsport, but of course that’s just not enough for professional formula racing.”

And Florsch had a stern response to the former F1 driver’s thoughts when asked if his comments were correct: “No, he’s not.
“But honestly I don’t want to go down to the level where Ralf is at the moment, so yeah, is he welcome to his opinion?
When asked what she thinks about the criticism in general, she replied: “Well I have to be honest, I can deal with criticism really well and I’ve just learned how to do it on a small scale.
“I honestly think you learn from criticism and you learn from mistakes. But I’m also very realistic and open and, yeah, what Schumacher says. I think the opinion about motorsport in Germany is open-minded and sometimes you think like that.”
Florsch has been a part of the Alpine Academy since 2023
While Florsch has competed in numerous categories in her career thus far, including the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Florsch has not won a race in any series since her debut in 2015 in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
However, despite her recent struggles in F3, the German has solid backing from an F1 team, as she was signed to the Alpine Academy in 2023.
Florsch has some great ambitions for her career with her new found support from Alpine, as she looks to get into Formula 2 and has hinted at possibly getting some F1 tests in the future.
As the 2024 F3 season approaches its climax, the 23-yer-old will be hoping to improve her fortunes after what has been a disappointing year.
