Christian Ho is ascending the ladder towards Formula 1 and has been very successful so far in his junior career.
The Singaporean has performed admirably during his career so far, finishing second in the F4 Spanish Championship in 2023 after joining Campos Racing.
He took five race victories over the season, with three of them coming at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with a clean sweep over the weekend.
Ho also drove well in Eurocup-3 in 2024 after consistently battling at the front of the field, and is now on the verge of moving up to FIA F3 in 2025.
While his team has yet to be announced, Ho has confirmed he will race in Formula 3 in 2025 as the first Singaporean driver in the series’ history to take the next step in his career.
Christian Ho is aiming to become Singapore’s first Formula 1 driver
Singapore has a relatively brief history in Formula 1, having only joined the calendar in 2008. The nation was the first to host a Grand Prix at night, and it remains very tough physically for the drivers.
But despite hosting a Grand Prix for a sizeable amount of time, Singapore has yet to develop a driver with skills sharp enough to race in Europe’s top series or to compete in Formula 1.
Ho is now looking to make history by becoming Singapore’s first Formula 1 driver with his announcement an an FIA F3 driver on the horizon.
Stepping up to Formula 3 will be a significant step in the right direction, as Ho will be racing under the nose of Formula 1.
The championship will be a step up from Eurocup-3 and Ho is wary of FIA F3’s extra challenge as he graduates to the F1 feeder series.
Many drivers have performed well in their careers before Formula 3 but struggled to adapt to the added pressure of being surrounded by Formula 1 and the notoriously difficult Pirelli tyres.
Yet Ho could be on the path to Formula 1 and has been successful on multiple tracks used in F1, such as Zandvoort after taking a podium in Eurocup-3 at the home of the Dutch Grand Prix.
Christian Ho was a part of the Sauber Karting Team
Ho began his go-karting career at just seven years old before moving to Italy to tackle karting in Europe only three years later.
The Singaporean also became the first Asian driver to win a race in the German Karting Championship (DKM) in 2018, before making his single-seater debut in 2022 aged 16.
What Ho showed in go-karts from an early age also convinced Sauber to sign him to their karting team in 2019 when Theo Pourchaire also joined the Sauber driver academy. But the Swiss Formula 1 squad would drop Ho after only the 2021 season.
Karting titles also often escaped Ho, who finished second for the German Junior Kart Championship crown and the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy in 2019, before finishing third in the WSK Champions Cup OKJ class and the IAME Asia Cup, Senior class in 2020.
His move to single-seaters in 2022 also did not deliver instant success but Ho won his first race in the F4 Spanish Championship in 2023 after leaving MP Motorsport for Campos. Spaniard Theophile Nael beat Ho to the F4 Spanish title that year by 23 points.

Singapore has had very few drivers race in professional motorsport. No one from the country has also been able to drive in Formula 1 or get close to competing in the junior series below it.
As Ho had few drivers from his home nation to aspire to emulate, he looks up to Lewis Hamilton – who is statistically Formula 1’s most successful driver ever.
The Briton has also succeeded at the Singapore Grand Prix multiple times after taking four victories, the second most in history to date behind his old adversary Sebastian Vettel.
Ho also takes inspiration from other types of sports with NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan two more of his idols having admired their relentless drive to win.

As of the time of writing when news broke that Ho will join the Formula 3 grid in 2025, there are still two rounds to go in the Eurocup-3 championship with two races at Jerez and also the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the Singaporean targets the title with Campos.
