The IndyCar ‘silly’ season brings about some intriguing changes to the upcoming year – but one driver could be set to miss out on a seat for 2025.
Alexander Rossi is into his ninth season in IndyCar, having raced for Andretti from 2016 to 2022 before joining his current team Arrow McLaren in 2023.
The American has shown great levels of consistency in his time in the sport, securing eight wins and 30 podiums in his career thus far.
But according to Marshall Pruett from The RACER, there are concerns that Rossi could be out of a drive for next season.

There are ‘growing fears’ that Alexander Rossi could be out of IndyCar in 2025
Rossi recently announced that he will leave McLaren at the end of the 2024 season and is searching for a new team.
It can be argued that the 32-year-old is a desirable option for most teams on the grid with his performances, but as seats now start to fill for 2025, time is running out for Rossi to secure a drive.
A question on the RACER’s mailbag wondered about Rossi’s future in IndyCar and the person had hoped that he could land a seat at Chip Ganassi Racing, but feared that he may no longer be of interest to top teams.
Pruett responded by reiterating that Ganassi’s line-up is all but set with Alex Palou, Marcus Armstrong and Linus Lindqvist and he stated that PREMA may be his last option to get a drive in 2025.
“There’s a growing fear that Rossi will be out of IndyCar,” he said.
“He’s not going to Ganassi. As the last silly season piece offered, the team’s three-driver lineup is set. His manager has spoken to all the other teams, or tried to connect with all of them, and so far, the same message I receive is the price is too high for their taste or their bank account.
“I hope something changes because I’d hate to lose Alexander from the series. From all I’ve been told in the last week, if it isn’t PREMA, I’m not sure what else is left unless it involves a big price reduction.”

Alexander Rossi has had another consistent year in IndyCar
Despite the ongoing situation with Rossi’s future, the 32-year-old has enjoyed another solid season in 2024.
The American sits ninth in the standings with 277 points as the series heads into the final road course race of the season at Portland.
Rossi has registered eight top 10 finishes thus far, including a podium finish at Laguna Seca in third.
The race at Portland is followed by three events on ovals to end the season, with two races at the Milwaukee Mile before the finale at Nashville Superspeedway.
