Most of the grid had a bone to pick with someone else after IndyCar’s chaotic Grand Prix of Madison, whereby an almost impossible amount of action happened.
The 260-lap affair saw a multitude of incidents including crashes, spins and even a late red flag that left Will Power feeling very aggrieved.
Even some who were minding their own business such as David Malukas got caught up in the chaos, hurting their chances of a good finish on the Gateway oval.
IndyCar‘s return from the summer break proved to be exciting and engaging for fans, who had been without racing action for four weeks.
Conor Daly ‘absolutely wiped out’ by rival after crash ahead
It could have been a far better result for Daly at the Grand Prix of Madison if it wasn’t for being held up in the incidents of other drivers.
In a tweet posted to X (formerly known as Twitter), Daly blamed two ‘half wrecks’ for denting his chances of a great result.
“Unreal… 21 car half wrecks twice in front of me and I got absolutely wiped out by the car behind me,” he said. “So sad, this Juncos Hollinger Racing team deserved far better.
“Had to push on with broken floor and several other small bits. P13 in the end. Luck needs to change next weekend.”
Daly’s chance for redemption at the Grand Prix of Portland
It’s not all negative for the returning Daly however, who showed signs of excellent pace in his first IndyCar race for over a year.
The upcoming Grand Prix of Portland represents an opportunity to get comfortable with his new Juncos Hollinger machinery on a road course.
It could be a crucial event for the American, who may have a shot at a full-time drive with the team for 2025 if he can impress across the final four events of the season.
Both seats are up for grabs at Juncos Hollinger, and striking up an early rapport with current teammate Romain Grosjean could have its benefits for both in the future.
Their experience is something that not many IndyCar teams have across their entire line-ups, so a move to keep both for next year would be wise for a team that is still looking to establish themselves on the grid.
