Pietro Fittipaldi has been left to search for an alternative IndyCar drive, with doubts over whether he can resign with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
The Brazilian drove the #30 car in 2024, with a best finish of 13th, achieved twice at both St Petersburg and Detroit.
With the need to increase its budget via sponsors or pay drivers, RLL may be left with no choice but to leave the older Fittipaldi behind.
That isn’t deterring him from looking for other drives though, joining brother Enzo in searching for an opportunity in the IndyCar series for next season.
Pietro Fittipaldi ‘looking elsewhere’ for 2025 IndyCar drive
One of the main problems which Pietro faces is his lack of performance throughout his IndyCar career so far.
A best finish of ninth place in 26 starts isn’t likely to impress many suitors, while brother Enzo doesn’t have much experience.
He remained upbeat regarding his hopes though, telling RACER that his previous ties with Dale Coyne Racing may come in handy.

“For sure we’re looking elsewhere, even for my brother as well. I’ve raced for Dale Coyne in the past. Dale is a good friend of ours,” he said.” Enzo tested with them last year, the same day that I tested at Sebring.
“So there’s a person that we’re always in touch with. Definitely opportunities there. And I know Dale is committed to making the program much more solid for next season.
“This year, it was difficult for him changing drivers every few races. So if it doesn’t work at Rahal, then we are also talking to Dale.”
Which Fittipaldi has the better chance of earning a seat?
It’s the classic battle of raw speed against experience when it comes to the Fittipaldi brothers, and if only one of them can be picked for a drive – it’s going to be a tough choice.
Pietro has competed in two Formula 1 grands prix, a full season of IndyCar, and the World Endurance Championship. Therefore, he knows how to deal with a variety of high-speed machinery.
Enzo has shown some excellent pace in Formula 2 but has only really dealt with that machinery over the last four seasons, and nothing much faster.

The younger brother would need more assistance to step into such an advanced role but may have more upside than Pietro.
Both will be hoping that it doesn’t boil down to that and that they will be able to both secure drives, but the clock is ticking ahead of next season.
