Scott McLaughlin’s racing exploits span way beyond an IndyCar series that he has grown into over the past few years.
Now a title contender and multiple race winner, the Kiwi driver has shown that he is one of the most adaptable drivers in the world.
He won three consecutive Supercar championships and took 56 wins across his time in the series, mainly with a Team Penske outfit that he then switched to IndyCar with.
He would’ve been within touching distance of a maiden IndyCar championship if he hadn’t been disqualified from the Grand Prix of St Petersburg at the start of the season, which no doubt hurts even more now.

IndyCar CEO Mark Miles recently came out and blasted the idea of a return to Watkins Glen, which has been off the calendar since 2017.
But why not try something new – like heading back to where McLaughlin hails from?

The Bathurst circuit is a legendary track in the motorsport landscape and has played host to the historic Bathurst 1000 since 1960 – and now McLaughlin has shared his views on the possibility of an IndyCar race there.
“lol an IndyCar race would be crazy,” he said on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), when replying to his rival Felix Rosenqvist.
Does McLaughlin have a chance of winning an IndyCar title?
Heading into the last race of the 2024 IndyCar season at the Nashville Superspeedway, McLaughlin has a great chance of finishing as runner-up in the championship.
It would be his best season to date, having taken three victories and shown rapid improvement as the season has progressed.

He has a deal to return with Penske for next season, a year which could make or break his career, especially if he is able to win the title.
But most importantly, he will have the equipment beneath him that he needs in order to compete, and as long as that is available to him, he bring glory back to his team.
He’s unfortunate enough to have Josef Newgarden and Will Power – two rapid and experienced teammates to compete against, but he has already proven that he can beat them on his day.
