Lance Stroll has suffered one of his trickiest Formula 1 seasons to date with Aston Martin, culminating in a torrid Brazilian Grand Prix.
The Canadian driver crashed out of qualifying, then didn’t even make the start of the race after one of the most embarrassing sequences in recent history.
After spinning on the formation lap, he managed to get his car stuck in the gravel, after misinterpreting how much momentum his car had.
It was an upsetting time for his mechanics who had toiled for hours to put his car in the race, just for him not to make it.

Stroll is in his eighth Formula 1 season, despite only being 26 years old, but hasn’t enjoyed much success recently.
He has been schooled a bit by Fernando Alonso in their two seasons together – a man nearly 20 years older than him.
Former Formula 1 driver Giedo van der Garde has now stated what he would do if he was in Stroll’s position speaking on the DRS: De Race Show YouTube channel.

“Ask if he is having fun, or he likes it because very honest. You must of course really enjoy what you do. If you don’t have a lot of fun with it, I’m going to do something else.
“I’m going to have a nice endurance ride, or I don’t know what to do – sit on a boat and celebrate a party or something.”
Where Stroll could go in the future
Looking at the other options which Stroll may have in motorsport, he probably wouldn’t have a shortage of options with his level of experience.
As van der Garde mentioned, a move to WEC could be a good idea, especially since Aston Martin have shown interest in a Hypercar entry.
If he wants to stay in single-seater racing, there could be the possibility of a move to IndyCar, which would also be a move closer to home.

If he is fed up with Formula 1, there are plenty of people who would like to have his seat – but he may want to wait until Adrian Newey has started working on their car before he makes his next move.
In a few seasons, he could find himself behind the wheel of a championship-winning machine – reigning his passion for the sport.
