Mick Schumacher is determined to return to Formula 1 after a disappointing spell with Haas.
The son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher joined the American outfit in 2021 after winning the Formula 2 title with PREMA the year prior.
The German spent two seasons with Haas, whilst also acting as the reserve driver for Ferrari, where he endured a torrid time. Schumacher only scored 12 points for the team, all of which coming in the 2022 season.
Haas dropped the 25-year-old at the end of that season in favour of Nico Hulkenberg. Since then, Schumacher has been the reserve driver for Mercedes and McLaren, continuing his role for the former in 2024.
The German has his sights set on an F1 return, but by his own admissions speaking with Sportscar365, Schumacher’s future in any category is uncertain.

For the 2024 campaign, Schumacher is competing full-time in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine, where he struggles have continued.

Driving the No. 36 Alpine A424 Hypercar alongside Nicolas Lapierre and Matthieu Vaxiviere, Schumacher sits 24th in the standings with just three points.
The No. 36 failed to score in the opening four races of the season, including a retirement at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, before finishing 10th in Sao Paulo and ninth last time out in Austin.
With his future not set for 2025, Schumacher cast doubt over returning to the WEC next year.
Asked about where he will end up next season, the German replied: “I truly don’t know, if I did I would say it.
“I think that there’s always going to be a possibility elsewhere in motorsport. There’s always going to be an open door, somewhere hopefully for me and I’ll go for that Plan B once I know what Plan A looks like.”
Asked whether there was another category of sports car racing that could interest him, Schumacher said: “There’s nothing out there right now that gives me the same feeling as F1.”

Where will Mick Schumacher end up in 2025?
Schumacher is right that there will be open doors for him, but he will have to act fast if he wants to be racing in 2025.
The reality is that the German’s future does not lie in F1. With there being no chance of him joining RB, Sauber is his only option, but even then he is not really under consideration with Gabriel Bortoleto being a strong favourite.
There are a few seats available in IndyCar, which would present a fresh start and a new challenge for Schumacher, although he would most likely have to join a team towards the back of the field.
Of course, the German could well stay at Alpine in the WEC, but with these recent comments, Schumacher risks putting himself out of a drive entirely with his mind solely set on F1.
