AF Corse have confirmed that Phil Hanson will be driving their satellite No. 83 car in the World Endurance Championship in 2025.
The Brit has been racing in WEC since the 2019/20 season, where he won the LMP2 class in his debut season in an Oreca 07 with United Autosports alongside Filipe Albuquerque.
Hanson remained with the team in the LMP2 class until this season, where he made the move to Hertz Team JOTA in the Hypercar class. Piloting the No. 38 Porsche 963 with Jenson Button and Oliver Rasmussen, the 25-year-old is currently sitting 17th in the standings with 19 points.
Hanson is believed to be taking the place of Robert Shwartzman in the AF Corse No. 83 Ferrari 499P, with the Israeli driver being heavily linked with the second PREMA seat in IndyCar next year alongside Callum Ilott.
Yifei Ye is ‘understood’ to be staying in the No. 83 AF Corse line-up
Hanson’s arrival at AF Corse has led to speculation as to where the other two No. 83 drivers – Yifei Ye and Robert Kubica – will end up next season.
Like what the Brit will be doing next year, Ye moved from Hertz Team JOTA to AF Corse in 2024, having scored points in all five races he competed in in the Porsche 963 the year prior.

The Ferrari factory driver helped guide the No. 83 to points finishes in Qatar, Imola and Spa, but at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ye, Shwartzman and Kubica retired from the race with an electronics issue.
Ye grabbed his first win in WEC at the Circuit of the Americas and currently sits ninth in the drivers’ standings heading into the final race in Bahrain.
According to a report from Sportscar365, it is ‘understood’ that Ye ‘will remain part of the line-up for the No. 83 car for a second consecutive season.’
The report also states that Kubica’s future ‘remains unknown’, casting down over whether he will remain with the team in 2025.
Ferrari are battling Porsche and Toyota for the Manufacturers’ Championship in Bahrain
Heading into the season finale for the Eight Hours of Bahrain, Ferrari are fighting win the Manufacturers’ Championship.
The Italian outfit are sat third in the standings with 134 points, 17 points behind Toyota in second and 27 points behind the current leaders Porsche.

With a maximum of 39 points available at the eight-hour race, it is all to play for between the three manufacturers in their battle for the title in 2024.
Ferrari are also battling Toyota for second in the drivers’ standings, as AF Corse’s No. 50 drivers Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicolas Nielsen are sat just two points ahead of the No. 7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid drivers Nyck de Vries and Kamui Kobayashi heading into Bahrain.
