Sebastien Ogier’s future in the World Rally Championship is uncertain, with the Frenchman himself revealing that it may lie away from rallying.
Ogier is one of the greatest drivers to ever race in the WRC, winning eight championships between 2013 and 2021, six of which being consecutive titles (2013-2019).
The Toyota driver is in with a chance to win this year’s title and equal the record set by fellow Frenchman Sebastien Loeb of nine titles, as Ogier looks set to compete at Acropolis Rally Greece and three rounds that follow.
The 40-year-old has competed in the WRC part-time since 2022. This year, he has run in six of the nine rallies so far, finishing in the top two in all of them.
And speaking with motorsport.com, Ogier revealed the series that he ‘definitely’ wants to be a part of in the future.
Sebastien Ogier reveals plans to race in the DTM
Outside of the WRC, Ogier has had previous experience in other top categories. In 2022, he competed part-time in the World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 class with Richard Mille Racing Team.
Alongside winning his 2018 WRC title, Ogier also made a guest outing in the DTM. The Frenchman has had previous experience driving GT3 machinery, having driven in the ADAC GT Masters in 2014.

It is this sprint format of the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) that is most attractive to Ogier. The 40-year-old’s wife – Andrea Kaiser – is a reporter for DTM’s TV broadcaster ProSieben, with this being another reason for his desire to race in the series.
Speaking during his visit to the fifth round of the season at the Nurburgring,he said: “One day I will definitely be part of this show, because it’s always fun. Everyone is very close together, there are good tracks, so it’s a good championship.
“There are always close races here, it is always very intense.
“The fact that my wife works here obviously helps me to follow the races often.”

Sebastien Ogier is chasing Thierry Neuville for the 2024 WRC title
Ogier’s quest to win the 2024 WRC title begins at Acropolis Rally Greece this weekend.
The Toyota driver sits 27 points behind Hyundai’s Theirry Neuville with four rounds to go. The Belgian has never won a WRC title and will be looking to finally break that winless streak.
Ogier has consistently said that statistics are not important to him, but with his record-equalling ninth title still on the cards, it is not difficult to see why the 40-year-old has decided to compete in Greece.
With the Frenchman also set to race in Chile, Central Europe and Japan, it will be a nail-biting end to the WRC season.
