Oliver Goethe is just four races into his Formula 2 career with MP Motorsport, as he attempts to secure a full-time drive for 2025.
The German transitioned straight from finishing seventh in Formula 3 to Formula 2 as he attempts to gain an advantage over his rivals and learn the new machinery ahead of next year.
There’s no guarantee of a drive for 2025 yet, but he has proved during his short career that he has race-winning potential.
At the age of 19, he also has plenty of time left to develop before he will be expected to compete at the highest level.
Oliver Goethe will ‘definitely’ be an MP Motorsport driver in 2025
Driving for MP Motorsport means that Goethe had to learn all about a new team, just weeks after his second full-time Formula 3 campaign came to an end.
There are two more races of the 2024 season left at both Qatar and Abu Dhabi for him to prove his credentials.
If he can score a few points, it would do no harm to his hopes of graduating full-time to the main feeder series of Formula 1.

Commentator Chris McCarthy told InsideF2 that he believes that Goethe will be an MP driver in 2025 already.
“Definitely, I’d say one of them at MP next year will be Oliver Goethe. I think he’s going to jump into the MP seat.
“I think they like to promote [from] within, speaking to them at the weekend. They seem like they like to keep their drivers within.”
Goethe has struggled so far in his Formula 2 career
Goethe has retired twice and failed to finish higher than 16th in any of his four Formula 2 outings for MP Motorsport so far.
It is a sizeable jump from Formula 3 though, and will require time for him to get used to the new Pirelli rubber which can be quite a handful.
He had a shot at the Formula 3 title before backing out of the season finale to take up this sooner-than-expected opportunity.

He could have finished inside the top five of the championship if it wasn’t for that, but the crucial experience he gained by being in the car for an extra weekend could make a huge difference.
MP sit third in the constructors’s standings so far this year, which illustrates just how quick they can be, and what a great chance Goethe has if they retain him for 2025.
