The Formula 2 series is incredibly competitive and is the last step on the road to F1 for junior drivers trying to reach the highest level.
Gabriel Bortoleto and Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar are the main contenders for the championship with two rounds to go, as four and a half points separate them in Formula 2.
The championship has been closely-fought this season and two drivers from the current grid are confirmed to be full-time F1 drivers next season.
PREMA driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli is graduating to Formula 1 with Mercedes, while his teammate Oliver Bearman begins his professional career with Haas. Richard Verschoor explained that the F2 grid is likely jealous of their rivals’ success, and he is also unlikely to race in F1.
Verschoor has driven well this season, taking victory in the Feature Race last time out in Azerbaijan, but he explained to the official Formula 2 website that he has endured some bad luck.

Verschoor has been very competitive in Formula 2 this season and finally secured his first win of the season in Azerbaijan on the Baku City Street Circuit.
The Dutchman has suffered from a lot of misfortune over the season, losing two Sprint Race wins in Saudi Arabia and Hungary.

Verschoor crossed the line in first place on both occasions, but he had the win taken away after he was disqualified for technical infringements.
The Trident driver explained that his previous disqualifications still weigh on his mind when he scores a podium finish, taking away some of the enjoyment.
He said: “In the end, if you do a good or a bad race, you always start again from zero the next weekend, so you always have to perform again and again. That’s how I look at it. The only problem is that now when I’m on the podium, I just have to see first whether I keep it or not.
“So the happiness can be a bit missing, like when I was on the podium in Budapest and we got disqualified again, but then of course, Monza and Baku were nice again and everything was fine, so we’re getting back on track.”
The final two rounds of the Formula 2 season will provide the opportunity for Richard Verschoor to score more podiums
The last two rounds of the championship will be held at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar before the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
The circuit in Qatar is brand new to Formula 2, which will level the playing field at the start of the weekend in practice.
Verschoor has proven he can adapt to a new circuit quickly, winning the Macau Grand Prix at the first attempt in 2019.
He has also driven well at Yas Marina in the past, scoring a third-place finish in the Sprint Race last season at the start of the weekend.
