Germany has had an incredibly rich history in motorsport with multiple Formula 1 world champions Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.
The nation has also had very successful drivers such as Nick Heidfeld and a Grand Prix, hosting two events in the same season in some years.
Despite their superb history, German motorsport is without a Formula 1 event and just one driver in Nico Hulkenberg compared to five in 2012.
Red Bull have been able to develop young drivers since they moved into Formula 1 with their own team in 2005.
They have two German drivers in their junior team, Tim Tramnitz and Oliver Goethe, who competed well in FIA F3.
Helmut Marko explained via quotes from sport.de that one of Red Bull’s juniors, in particular, could be a potential option for the Formula 1 team but warned there are many obstacles in the way.

Tramnitz had an impressive rookie season in FIA F3, taking four podiums over the season, including a victory at Monza in the Sprint Race for MP Motorsport.
The German driver was very quick from the opening stages of the season, scoring third place in Bahrain, a difficult circuit where managing the tricky Pirelli tyres can be a challenge.
Tramnitz drove well throughout the year, and Marko explained that he would stay in Formula 3 for another season to gather more experience.

He said: “With Tramnitz, who we added to our squad last year, we had a positive season. He will stay in Formula 3 for another year because he simply wasn’t ready for Formula 2 in terms of preparation.
“But that must clearly be his goal.” If Tramnitz drives well in Formula 3 next year, “then he’ll go to Formula 2,” promised Marko.
“Based on the course of events so far, the performance and the attitude, I believe that we have a serious candidate in Tramnitz. But at the moment we are in Formula 3.”

Tramnitz performed well this year in FIA F3 and ending his season on a high with the victory in Monza but he lacked consistency.
There were good moments such as the podiums but he lost valuable points by failing to score anything at Silverstone.
Tramnitz will need to be at the sharp end of the field next year as he will be returning to tracks he has raced on before, although next year will be with a new car.
The German driver’s career could stall if he doesn’t challenge for the title in F3 and move to Formula 2 as a third season has very little benefit.
