The 2024/25 Formula E grid is nearing its completion with just one team yet to confirm their drivers.

ERT have been in Formula E since the inaugural season in 2014/15, competing under the name China Racing / NEXTEV TCR. The team housed Nelson Piquet Jr that year, who went on to become the first champion in the all-electric series, winning two races across the season.

Those two wins at Long Beach and Moscow would prove to be the Chinese team’s only wins in the series so far. In fact, ERT have not had a driver finish on the podium since Oliver Turvey finished second at the Mexico City ePrix in the 2017/18 season.

The team have consistently been at the back of the grid for the last few seasons, finishing bottom of the Teams’ Championship in Season 10 with just 23 points. ERT will be hoping for better fortunes next year as they look set to move away from being a manufacturer team to a Porsche customer team.

Sergio Sette Camara is close to agreeing a new deal with ERT

ERT fielded Dan Ticktum and Sergio Sette Camara in 2023/24, having retained the pair from the year prior.

The latter made his debut in FE in the COVID-19-affected 2019/20 season with GEOX Dragon, now DS Penske. Sette Camara raced all six ePrix in Berlin that season, being disqualified on his first appearance and achieving a highest finish of 15th.

The Brazilian joined the team full-time the following year, but only managed three points finishes in two years with the team, including his best result to date in FE with fourth in Diriyah in 2020/21.

The 26-year-old moved over to ERT in 2022/23 – then called Nio 333 FE Team – to partner Ticktum and was outscored by the Brit as he only managed 14 points.

Ticktum lost the qualifying battle to Sette Camara in Season 10, but the latter finished one point behind as he went worse than the year prior with just 11 points.

Speculation has grown as to who will drive for the struggling ERT in Season 11 for the debut of the Gen3 Evo car, but according to The Race, Sette Camara is ‘close to finalising’ a deal to stay with the team.

ERT had held talks with released Nissan driver Sacha Fenestraz who is desperate to keep his FE hopes alive, but it now looks unlikely the Argentine will join the team as they seem to favour Sette Camara.

ERT are also expected to retain Dan Ticktum for Season 11

It has also been reported that ERT are ‘highly likely’ to keep Ticktum on board, retaining their current line-up for a third consecutive year.

The Brit registered only one points finish last season with fourth at Misano, which turns out to be their best result in FE since their last podium through Turvey in 2017/18.

Sette Camara has struggled in the all-electric series since he joined Dragon, managing a best season tally of 16 points in 2020/21.

With the new partnership with Porsche, it could be a much needed boost for ERT as they look to keep faith in their ‘strong assets’ Ticktum and Sette Camara for Season 11.
