Sebastien Buemi is one of the most experienced and successful names on the Formula E grid.
The Swiss driver has had an illustrious career in motorsport, racing for Red Bull’s junior team Toro Rosso in Formula 1 from 2009 to 2011.
After acting as Red Bull’s reserve driver from 2012-2013 and 2019, Buemi has had incredible success in other categories, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times with Toyota – three consecutively from 2018-2020 and the other in the hypercar class in 2022 – and has finished second in 2021 and 2023.
The 35-year-old has also won the World Endurance Championship four times and is the current defending champion having won 2022 and 2023 consecutively in the hypercar class.

Sebastien Buemi will have ‘one last crack’ at Formula E in 2024/25
Among his several accolades in motorsport, Buemi has raced in every season in Formula E since its inception in 2014.
The Swiss driver raced for the e.dams team under both Renault and Nissan before joining his current team Envision Racing in 2022.
While Buemi has had great success in the all-electric series, he fell on hard times in 2023/24, finishing on the podium twice and only managing 11th in the standings with 53 points.
Speaking on The Race Formula E Podcast and their review of the season, Sam Smith believes that Buemi – who is retained by Envision for Season 11 – will have ‘one more crack’ at the series before calling it quits.
Talking about Envision’s fall down the order from team champions last season to sixth this year, he said: “I think they should be able to get back to being at the front.
“I was quite surprised that they elected for continuity, I’m quite pleased that they did actually. I think there’s a lot to say for continuity, especially in Formula E. Andretti haven’t gone for that in recent seasons but Envision have, in terms of the drivers.
“I’m not sure. It’s hard to know what goes on behind the scenes at Envision. They have a very particular way of running a team. They’re very, very sort of unique in the sense of how their engineering department works.
“Sebastien Buemi, I think it’ll be his last season of Formula E next year.
“I think he can occasionally bring a big result. We saw that in Mexico and in London. He had a great race in Portland as well.
“You know, the old Buemi’s in there. It just gets a bit masked by circumstance and by some of these madhouse races. I still think he can definitely do it, but he’ll have one last crack at it next year.”

Sebastien Buemi won the title in Formula E’s second season
Buemi established himself as a title contender in Formula E’s early days, finishing runner-up to Nelson Piquet Jr in 2014/15.
The Swiss driver would go one better the following season, as after a tense battle with fellow former F1 driver Lucas di Grassi, Buemi won three races and scored six podiums to win the title by just two points.
In the third season, the 35-year-old racked up an incredible six victories, but by failing to score points in every other race, it was di Grassi who won the title by 24 points.
Buemi would finish runner-up again in 2018/19, winning the first race in New York. The Swiss driver has not won a race in the sport since this event.
