Formula E are taking a huge stride forward in their support for female talent with the test in Valencia in November.
Next month, the all-electric series will hold a test for female drivers which will give them the chance to drive more modern machinery and prove their skills to the teams and possibly impress them enough to keep them in the loop for a future seat.
All 11 of the Formula E teams will run two drivers in the test in what is only the second all-female test ever run – the first happening in 2018 in Diriyah.
The Valencia test will also be the first time these drivers have piloted the Gen3 Evo car, which will be the fastest car in an FIA championship when it debuts in the 2024/25 season.
Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser ‘can’t wait’ to get going with DS Penske in Valencia test
As the teams announce their drivers for the test in November, DS Penske have confirmed that they will run Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser on the day in Valencia.
Edgar is currently competed in the all-female series F1 Academy, having finished eighth in the standings the previous year with one win and four podiums.

The 19-year-old has endured a difficult 2024 season with Rodin Motorsport as she sits 10th in the standings with two rounds to go. Edgar has only scored points three times all year, registering a best finish of fourth in the second race in Jeddah.
Visser is a two-time runner-up of F1 Academy’s predecessor W Series in 2019 and 2022. The Dutch driver has previously driven FE machinery as she acted as the test driver for BMW i Andretti Motorsport in the 2018/19 season.
On FE’s official Instagram account about the news, the two drivers expressed their excitement about getting an opportunity with Penske. Edgar wrote in the comments: “Let’s go,” followed by a fire emoji.
While Visser said: “Can’t wait!!” as she is set for her second outing in FE machinery.
Who else has been confirmed for the all-female test in Formula E?
Edgar and Visser add to some big names that have also been confirmed to be taking part in the test in Valencia.
The 2023 F1 Academy champion Marta Garcia will be driving with Porsche alongside Gabriela Jilkova, while current champion leader Abbi Pulling will be running with Nissan with Sophia Florsch.

Ella Lloyd will be driving alongside Bianca Bustamante at McLaren, with the Welsh driver signing with the Woking squad’s driver academy. Lloyd sees Formula E as a great option for the future as she looks to set out her next move after F1 Academy in 2025.
Jaguar are set to bring Jamie Chadwick to Valencia for the test, with the Brit previously testing FE machinery with the team back in 2020.
