Sacha Fenestraz is on the verge of moving to Japan and could be competing in a dual campaign of Super Formula and Super GT.
The Argentine driver has had extensive success in Japan over his motorsport career, winning the Japanese F3 title in 2019.
This success was impressive, as he adjusted to a new culture after racing in European F3 and a set of unfamiliar circuits.
Fenestraz then went on to race in Super Formula, and he was a championship challenger in 2022. He finished second in the standings behind Tomoki Nojiri.
His efforts in Super Formula also convinced Nissan to give Fenestraz a seat on the Formula E grid in 2022-23. But he would only last two seasons in the all-electric series.
The 25-year-old was released from his Formula E contract by Nissan earlier this year and Fenestraz told the Corazon de F1 YouTube channel what the Japanese manufacturer could have done better.

Fenestraz struggled during his two-year stint in Formula E at Nissan, failing to match teammate Oliver Rowland’s performance last season.
The Argentine didn’t get the most out of the car, as his teammate won two races and finished fourth in the championship standings.
He still had two years left on his contract and Fenestraz admitted his season wasn’t positive, but the situation could’ve been handled better.
The 25-year-old said: “Everything happened with Nissan, it could have been handled better. I’m not going to say it any other way. The season was not positive but also the way they announced to me and told me everything you saw that it was not continuing.
“Even though I had two years left on my contract, it was not the best way. We have a proposal with Nissan, also in WEC and other categories. We have almost decided which way we are going, but there is still nothing 100% confirmed.
“They [my family] are also a little in my situation, a little sad about how everything happened and how I am not lying to you. I was quite down the past two months with this whole story. A lot of uncertainty about where I’m going, what do I do.”
Super Formula is the likely next step for Sacha Fenestraz
Fenestraz may be returning to Super Formula for next season after being very competitive in the series previously.
This would be a good move as he is experienced in Japanese culture and knows how to build a team around him over a season.
The Argentinian would like to compete with Toyota, as that could open doors to WEC for Fenestraz in the future, especially in Hypercar.
