IndyCar has become incredibly competitive with racing on ovals as well as road and street courses, offering a unique aspect to the championship.
The series has become incredibly popular with drivers who want to continue racing in single-seaters after their Formula 1 career comes to an end such as Romain Grosjean, who races for Juncos Hollinger Racing.
Younger drivers such as Callum Ilott and Christian Lundgaard have also found a home in IndyCar after being overlooked for opportunities in Formula 1.
Valtteri Bottas has been successful at the highest level, winning 10 Grands Prix and battling with Lewis Hamilton during their five years as teammates at Mercedes.
The Finnish driver has been at the back of the field this year, floundering in an underdeveloped Sauber unable to score points, and he is looking at other options.
Bottas may be interested in IndyCar if there are no opportunities to remain in Formula 1, at least that is what Ted Kravitz has claimed on Ted’s Podbook.
Valtteri Bottas is ‘looking at IndyCar’ if he has to leave Formula 1
Bottas’ contract at Sauber expires at the end of this season, and although he is a candidate to remain in the Swiss team, other drivers are available.
The Finnish driver is now 35 years old and unlikely to return to a race-winning team in Formula 1 which may make IndyCar more appealing.

Kravitz explained that Bottas is looking at IndyCar if he doesn’t sign a new contract at Sauber and he has to move on.
He said: “Interesting line from Valtteri Bottas by the way, talking about his contract renegotiation or negotiations with Mattia Binotto, saying if it doesn’t turn out to be a renewal with Sauber and then with Audi into the future, then I’m looking at IndyCar. The plan would be to go to IndyCars, so Valtteri really not done racing.”
PREMA could be an option for Valtteri Bottas in IndyCar
IndyCar will welcome PREMA to the grid for the 2025 season with two cars powered by Chevrolet engines in North America.
The Italian team has been superb across European junior racing, developing Formula 1 race winners Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri.
An experienced driver such as Bottas could be what the outfit needs as they adjust to the style of racing IndyCar.
Although Bottas has yet to experience IndyCar and the culture of North American racing, it is also not a guarantee that speed in Formula 1 will translate to being competitive in IndyCar.
