Rahal Letterman Lanigan will have a new driver line-up in 2025, and it will include one of the most impressive rookies in recent memory.
Louis Foster dominated the Indy NXT championship this year, winning eight out of 14 races on his way to claiming the title by over 100 points.
After waiting around for what felt like an age, he eventually found himself a seat after Bobby Rahal decided to show some faith in his abilities.
He will replace the outgoing Christian Lundgaard, who moves to McLaren to form the youngest team on the grid alongside Pato O’Ward and Nolan Siegel.

Lundgaard had been a dependable performer with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for three seasons and managed to take his first IndyCar win with them.
McLaren could be a jump in performance for him, but they have shown themselves to be susceptible to a lack of consistency and tyre problems, so there are no guarantees.
Foster represents the perfect replacement for the Dane, and is a choice which Bobby Rahal is very pleased with, he told Motorsport.com.
“Yes, we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to continue with Christian. But… I don’t look at this as a second choice or whatever.
“I think Louis has proven his worth and has earned the situation, and we’re committed to working with him and helping him in every way so he can be successful.”
How Foster could be better than Lundgaard
Foster will be eager to hit the ground running in IndyCar, and he has a team that have proven themselves to be capable of nurturing young talent to do it with.
Lundgaard regressed ever so slightly in 2024, dropping three places in the drivers’ championship to 11th, picking up one podium on his way.
The Brit is yet to find out who his new teammate will be, as the American outfit he signed for has just one of four seats remaining for next season.

They could go for a variety of options, but a more experienced driver would suit the team and their development better going forward.
That could mean Rinus VeeKay or even Romain Grosjean are in the picture, as they are now free agents following their time with Ed Carpenter Racing and Juncos Hollinger.
