Andretti have one of the fastest, most well-rounded driver line-ups in the entirety of IndyCar and is well-positioned to compete for championships.
Colton Herta managed to finish second in the drivers’ championship this year, after an excellent run to end the season, including his maiden oval victory in the Nashville finale.
Kyle Kirkwood and Marcus Ericsson bring a blend of talent and experience too – with the latter an Indy 500 winner just two years ago.
Heading into 2025, they are aiming to overcome their mega rivals Team Penske and Chip Ganassi, who have proven to be very stiff competition in recent years.
Colton Herta and Kyle Kirkwood would seek fishing career
Herta is coming off the back of his best IndyCar season, where he managed to overcome a long-win drought.
Kirkwood was able to show a lot more consistency and just needs to find a few victories to pair with that to be considered a serious contender.
Speaking on Andretti’s YouTube channel, the two agreed that they would embark on a different journey in another sport if they weren’t IndyCar drivers.

“I feel like me and Kyle would be like a joint Bass Pro [fishing] tour. That’s actually a pretty fun job where they go, they do fish tournaments or something like that.
“They actually make a ton of money doing that too, it’s pretty wild,” Kirkwood replied.
“I would definitely do that or if I spent enough time doing surfing, it would be surfing. But if I had to jump into something right now, it would be fishing.”
Can Andretti claim the drivers’ championship in 2025?
It has been 12 years since Andretti last managed to take some silverware home after the end of an IndyCar season.
Herta is their best bet to win over the long term, but he has been waiting years for an opportunity to bring everything together.
The youngest winner in the history of the series back in 2019, it was anticipated that he would have claimed a crown by now.

Instead, Spaniard Alex Palou has come in and won three times before he has been able to compete for glory.
2025 is his next opportunity to bring it all together, but it will require Andretti to remain consistent and deliver a car capable of competing with its ultra-fast rivals.
