Romain Grosjean has endured one of his more miserable IndyCar campaigns so far in 2024, having failed to reach the podium once.
It’s amazing that the Frenchman is also yet to win a race in the series, having notched up six podiums and three pole positions.
It replicates his Formula 1 success, having achieved 10 podiums, but never the top step of the rostrum across the course of his career.
With three IndyCar races left this season, it’s unlikely that a breakthrough victory will arrive in 2024 as he waits to make a decision on his future beyond this season.
James Hinchcliffe lays ‘100%’ blame on Romain Grosjean for crash
A tricky Grand Prix of Portland saw even championship contender Scott Dixon get smashed out of the race after a collision which sent him into the barriers following contact with Pietro Fittipaldi.
Grosjean suffered a different fate, spinning by his own admission into turn one, before using the hybrid system to restart his car and join the race.

In doing so, he fell straight into the path of Christian Rasmussen, who had nowhere to go and ran into the back of him – handing Grosjean a puncture.
IndyCar commentator James Hinchcliffe blamed him for the incident when he said: “He spins around and then just drives straight for the racing line. He should be nowhere near that kerb.
“That’s 100% on the #77, I feel bad for Rasmussen, I hope there’s no damage on the front of the #20.”
A miserable day for Juncos Hollinger Racing
Rasmussen finished 26th, one position ahead of Grosjean and two laps down after the incident, which effectively ruined his race.
Grosjean was handed a drive-through-penalty for his troubles, but his race too was far from over by that stage – a blow for the Juncos Hollinger team who were running inside the top 10 before his spin.
Conor Daly finished 22nd in the other Juncos Hollinger entry to round off a miserable day for the outfit, who cannot seem to buy any luck or consistency of late.

They have three races left of a fairly dismal 2024 campaign before they turn their attention to next season, with the team yet to confirm either of their drivers yet.
Grosjean has been offered a deal, but is being chased by other outfits too, while Daly has to prove himself worthy of a seat over the next few races to secure a full-time IndyCar return.
