Jamie Chadwick shares what her racing goal will ‘always’ be after IndyCar test

Jamie Chadwick’s IndyCar debut at Barber Motorsports Park proved that she has the potential to step up to the big leagues.

Conducting a test for Andretti, she lapped impressively and showed her speed in some tricky low-speed corners.

The Brit was aware that improvements are required, with a steering issue holding her back from unlocking more lap time.

The lack of power steering, and extra muscle required to handle the cars seems to be the biggest problem that faces her currently.

IndyCar will ‘always’ be Jamie Chadwick’s goal

While there aren’t any realistic seats for Chadwick to pursue in 2025, she remains set on working hard towards making the grid in the future.

Speaking to The Mirror, she confirmed that reaching IndyCar is going to be her main goal for a long time, and she is willing to be patient for an opportunity.

“There’s quite a few other factors that will determine whether I end up on the IndyCar grid or not,” she said. “But for sure, my desire is to pursue my best options to try to get on that grid for next year.

“We can only control what we can control and pursue the best options that we have available. If it’s not IndyCar, then it’s not the be all and end all for next year.

“We want to focus on having the best opportunity whenever that time comes around – next year, year after that… it’s always going to be my goal to be in IndyCar. So it’s just working towards when that opportunity might come around.”

Chadwick looks set for Indy NXT return

The lack of IndyCar options likely means that Chadwick will be forced to return to Indy NXT for another term in 2025.

She won a race at Road America in the series this year and showed that she can deliver spectacularly on her day.

It’s clear that a few more tests and some time to work on the issues of the first test would benefit Chadwick.

Maybe she’s ready for an IndyCar berth for 2026, when there may be a few more opportunities on the grid, but that might require her to kick on with her Indy NXT campaign.

It doesn’t mean that a championship trophy has to be tabled, but a few more victories would go a long way toward convincing team owners that she is a good choice for their organisation.
