Logan Sargeant has found himself as one of the main focuses of attention in rumours about the 2025 IndyCar season.
The American was sacked by Williams in Formula 1 after amassing just one point in 36 race starts. Sargeant was subsequently replaced by Franco Colapinto, who has already put in some impressive performances and proved he can challenge regularly for points.
But after just over a month from his F1 exit, the 23-year-old has found himself in the world of IndyCar. At the Music City Grand Prix, Sargeant was spotted in conversation with Colton Herta and Andretti, which first fuelled speculation that this would be where his next destination would be.
Weeks later, Sargeant was handed an IndyCar test by Meyer Shank Racing. Despite not having a seat available for him in 2025, team owner Mike Shank said it would be foolish not to offer Sargeant a test.

While his time in F1 will have to be regarded as a failure, it is not as if Sargeant is incapable of showing pace and steady performance.

These statements are more than echoed by his former team principal James Vowles who, speaking on the Beyond The Grid Podcast, gave his verdict on what the American can achieve in other racing categories.
“He absolutely has the capability to be champion in many other series. No doubt about it,” he said.
While things did not work out for Sargeant in F1, a fresh new challenge is what is needed to reignite his career and IndyCar could be just that.
The 23-year-old seems to not have his sights set on becoming a reserve driver for an F1 team like many others have done in the past. IndyCar would allow Sargeant to move closer to home and settle in with a team in more familiar surroundings.
Can Logan Sargeant find a seat for 2025?
The reality for Sargeant though is that there may not be an opportunity right for him in 2025, with Marshall Pruett stating that he may have to wait until 2026 to find a seat.
As aforementioned, Meyer Shank Racing do not have a seat open for him despite his test, nor do Andretti, who have retained Colton Herta, Kyle Kirkwood and Marcus Ericsson for next season.

It had been rumoured that Sargeant would drive for the new PREMA team in 2025 ahead of their debut season in IndyCar, but after announcing the signing of Callum Illot, the team may be looking elsewhere for their second driver,
The only teams on the grid that currently have both of their seats currently vacant is Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and Juncos Hollinger Racing. While they are opportunities, rushing into a seat can be the wrong move and can do more damage to a career than good.
With limited options available for 2025, having patience may be the best move for Sargeant as he looks to revive his career.
