Logan Sargeant is searching for his next challenge in motorsport after his sacking from Williams in Formula 1.
The American joined the Grove-based squad in 2023 having impressed in Formula 2. Sargeant won two races and grabbed two pole positions and four podiums to finish fourth overall in 2022, behind champion Felipe Drugovich, Theo Pourchaire and Liam Lawson.
In his debut F1 season, Sargeant was considerably outperformed by his more experienced teammate Alex Albon and only scored one point all season at his home race in Texas.
Despite the underwhelming performances, the 23-year-old was retained by the team for 2024, but things did not improve as several accidents cost the team millions in damages. After his crash at Zandvoort, team principal James Vowles pulled the plug on Sargeant and drafted in Franco Colapinto for the remainder of the season.
Now, Sargeant is looking for his next drive, but he may have to wait longer than he may have hope to get what he wants.
Marshall Pruett says Logan Sargeart may have to wait until 2026 for an IndyCar season
Sargeant has been heavily linked with a move back to the States to race in IndyCar for the 2025 season.

At the season finale at Nashville Superspeedway, Sargeant was spotted with Andretti and Colton Herta, leaving many to speculate that the American will in fact be on the grid for 2025.
However, according to Marshall Pruett via The RACER Mailbag, the 23-year-old has ‘slim pickings’ for 2025 and may have to wait until 2026 for a door to open in IndyCar.
Pruett was asked by a fan named Jim Doyle if either Sargeant or Valtteri Bottas could be in with a shot for the No. 8 car at Chip Ganassi Racing, with the team yet to confirm their third driver alongside Alex Palou and Scott Dixon.
But the journalist was quick to shut that down, with Kyffin Simpson looking set to retain his seat: “Jim, the seat was never open.
“As we’ve written a few times in recent months, Kyffin Simpson will be moving to the third car. It remains unconfirmed by Ganassi but is a known thing within the paddock.
“Logan was at Nashville and taking meetings with teams. I spoke with his friend Kyle Kirkwood and we both agreed there were slim pickings for him to explore.
“Logan wants to be paid, and that leaves the 45 at RLL, the 21 at ECR, and the 77 at JHR, and those three teams have plenty of options with more experienced IndyCar drivers.
“The timing could be off for 2025, but if he’s patient it looks like 2026 could be more realistic.”

How limited are Logan Sargeant’s options for 2025?
As the grid begins to slowly fill for the 2025 IndyCar season, Sargeant does find himself quite far down the pecking order for a seat next season.
At Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Graham Rahal has a multi-year deal with the team, and it is rumoured that Juri Vips could be considered for a full-time drive for 2025 after making a one-off appearance this year at Portland.
Rinus VeeKay is a big possibility to remain with Ed Carpenter Racing for next season, while Christian Rasmussen’s future also makes it unlikely for Sargeant to move there. Juncos Hollinger Racing is also an uncertainty, with Romain Grosjean’s future undecided.
Even newcomers PREMA Racing are not a realistic option for Sargeant. With Callum Illot already signed with the team for 2025, it is expected that Robert Schwartzman will be the second driver alongside the Brit.
