Jamie Chadwick may have given up on her dreams of reaching Formula 1 for good, despite years of fighting to get there.
A multiple single-seater championship winner with the W-Series and F1 Academy, she was once viewed as the next best female prospect to reach Formula 1.
Sadly, despite being in the Williams driver academy for a while, things haven’t quite materialised and it now looks as if the grid may be closed off forever.
She has managed to forge a career in North America with Indy NXT, which keeps her racing dream alive and should allow her to impress for many years to come.
Jamie Chadwick admits it ‘doesn’t look like’ F1 is a possibility
The modern IndyCar’s speed and demands aren’t that far off what is experienced in Formula 1 – making it a good proving ground for talent.
Chadwick recently received the opportunity to test an IndyCar for Andretti are Barber Motorsports Park, and lapped somewhat impressively.
She admitted that she has work to do physically yet to fully get up to speed, but the potential seems to be there.

In an interview with the Mirror, she admitted that her Formula 1 aspirations may be a thing of the past looking ahead to the future.
“If I look at the level of Formula 1 now, where my age is and my experience, it really doesn’t look like I’m on that trajectory at the moment.
“But never say never. The focus is on the IndyCar, but if there’s an opportunity to get in an F1 car, of course it’s something I’d love to do.”
What next for Chadwick?
Chadwick now passes the female Formula 1 chasing baton over to Alpine academy driver Abbi Pulling, who appears to be the next best candidate.
Her next aspiration is to reach IndyCar in a full-time capacity, which is an incredibly difficult task given the current landscape of the driver market.
There are very few seats available and those that are in contention for them come with huge backing in the form of sponsorship.

It doesn’t mean that Chadwick has no hope of securing a drive, but it means that she is more likely to return to Indy NXT in 2025.
If she can better her campaign from this year, where she won a race at Road America, she stands a great chance of competing in an IndyCar race over the next few years.
