Marcus Armstrong has been very impressive since joining the IndyCar grid in 2023 with Chip Ganassi Racing.
The New Zealander was immediately on the pace in his rookie season in a campaign that solely focused on road and street courses without the added complication of ovals.
Armstrong was consistently in the top 10, and his good form continued into 2024, scoring his first IndyCar podium in Detroit.
He will move to Meyer Shank Racing to partner with Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist for the 2025 season in a formidable pairing.
The driver lineup should help MSR move further up the field, and Armstrong, speaking to the official IndyCar website, was very impressed with Rosenqvist’s speed over a single lap.

Rosenqvist has been a very competitive driver since making his IndyCar debut in 2019 and the Swede has consistently been at the front.
Despite never challenging for a championship, he has taken six pole positions, including at Long Beach earlier this season for MSR.
His speed over a single lap has been impressive as he has set the pace in qualifying in cars that haven’t always been the class of the field.

Armstrong praised his new teammate for his raw speed in IndyCar and is hoping to turn good pace into results next year.
He said: “Both Mike [Shank] and Jim [Meyer] have an eye for talent because they signed Felix, and in my opinion, Felix is one of the fastest drivers over one lap. So, for them to put all their confidence and trust into me, it’s really a privilege, and we need to turn that into results which I’m sure we can do.”

Armstrong spent two years at Chip Ganassi Racing and developed his skills, particularly on ovals, over his stint at the team.
He has experience at one of the biggest teams in IndyCar and has learned from top drivers such as Scott Dixon about the critical details of racing in the championship.
The fine details are vital in IndyCar, particularly fuel saving and managing risk as the races are so long, usually full of incidents.
Armstrong was pleased to see Meyer Shank Racing’s commitment in IndyCar which made joining the team an easy decision.
