IndyCar will see a new team join the sport in 2025 in the form of PREMA Racing.
The Italian outfit have established themselves as one of the most successful teams in single-seaters, particularly in the junior categories.
Starting their operation in 1983, PREMA have housed some top talent, including the 1997 Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve and the likes of current F1 drivers Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll.
PREMA have also dabbled in sports car racing, competing in the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans under their namesake in 2022 and 2023.
And going into the 2025 season, the team will be expanding into North America as they embark on a new challenge in IndyCar.
PREMA Racing expected to announce Callum Illot ‘next week’ as their IndyCar driver
Since their announcement back in April, speculation has been rife as to who will drive for the team next year.
With PREMA running two cars in 2025, there has been no official confirmation about either of their drivers, but there could be one rather soon.
British driver Callum Illot has been heavily linked with the team in recent weeks. The 25-year-old previously raced with the team back in 2017 in the Formula 3 European Championship and the Macau Grand Prix.
The former Alfa Romeo and Haas F1 reserve driver is currently competing in the WEC Hypercar class for the Porsche customer team JOTA and won the Six Hours of Spa alongside Will Stevens.
According to a post from journalist Tony Donohue on X, Illot is set to rejoin PREMA in their IndyCar adventure, with an ‘announcement next week’ expected to come.

Robert Schwartzman has been rumoured to be joining Callum Illot at PREMA
Illot has previously competed in IndyCar, driving with Juncos Hollinger Racing full-time in 2022 and 2023.
The Brit registered his best race result and overall finish in the latter year with fifth at St Petersburg and Laguna Seca and 16th in the standings.
With Illot set to be confirmed as PREMA’s first driver, rumours are speculating that Robert Schwartzman could be the second for 2025.
The Russian-Israeli driver also previously raced with PREMA, finishing second with the team in Formula 2 in 2021. Schwartzman is also currently competing in WEC, racing with Ferrari’s non-customer team AF Corse.
