Romain Grosjean has fired shots at IndyCar as he remains to be one of the few drivers left yet to secure a 2025 drive.
The Frenchman was impressive during his first year with Juncos Hollinger Racing, including six top-10 finishes.
He is yet to secure an elusive maiden win in the IndyCar series, but he has proven on multiple occasions that he is victory material.
For all that he has done, and all the experience that he brings, he is somehow yet to secure a deal to race for anyone in 2025, so just how has that happened?

The introduction of a hybrid system in 2024 was tricky for teams up and down the paddock and left most drivers pretty mythed.
There aren’t many supporters for the system right now, which has made driving more difficult and driven up the cost of competing for teams.
It’s one of the reasons why Grosjean believes that he hasn’t secured a 2025 seat yet, pinning the blame on the series itself, rather than his performance.

“It’s all budget,” Grosjean told RACER. “So right now, I’ve got nothing lined up. It is what it is. I think last year was probably one of my best seasons.
“I may end up not being in the grid next year, just because the marketing has been horrendous for IndyCar, the hybrid has brought the costs to a level that’s unbearable for teams, and that’s the way it is.”
What can Grosjean do next?
Other than waiting for Ricardo Juncos to decide on his coveted two race seats, there isn’t much that Grosjean can do currently.
He can shop around and see if Dale Coyne Racing or Rahal Letterman Lanigan would be interested, but that is all that remains on the grid for 2025.
The former of those options is likely looking for pay drivers to ease the burden of the costs of a hybrid too, pushing the Frenchman out of the picture.

It would be an unsatisfactory end to his IndyCar career, which started with so much promise back in 2021 – with the Dale Coyne outfit.
Knowing this series, there will be a way back onto the grid for him in the future if he wants it, but it may take some time for that opportunity to arise.
