With only one race of the IndyCar season to go, everyone on the grid appears to be targeting glory at the Nashville Superspeedway.
The Music City Grand Prix in Nashville will be an oval race, rather than a street race for this year’s championship finale.
Three drivers are in the fight for the title, with only one of them (Will Power) having any experience at the track (2008).
A few drivers have nothing to lose, and they’re the ones to watch out for this weekend, including Romain Grosjean – who always appears to have something special up his sleeve.
Romain Grosjean targets incredible Nashville result
Grosjean is one of few drivers yet to decide upon his future for 2025, with an offer from his current Juncos Hollinger Racing team and a few options elsewhere to assess.
He has proven that he has plenty of speed in IndyCar, but failed to take an elusive first win owing to his inconsistent performances.
His best result of the season was a fourth place at Laguna Seca, where he came so close to claiming the team’s maiden podium, only for his teammate Conor Daly to achieve the feat at Milwaukee.

Looking ahead to what could be his final race with Juncos Hollinger, he has one final opportunity to impress on an oval layout which he has improved at over the course of the season.
He even managed a top 10 finish in race two at the Milwaukee Mile, so it’s natural for him to target an even better result next time out – as he has done on the social media platform X, aiming for a win with a new livery on his car.
Why the Music City Grand Prix could be a race for the ages
Out of the three drivers in with a chance of winning the championship at the finale, only one (Alex Palou) really has something to lose.
He holds a 33-point advantage in the championship, and only needs a ninth-placed finish to secure his third IndyCar crown.

Dangerously for Palou, almost the entire field has nothing to lose at Nashville and therefore will be pedal to the metal in an attempt to secure one final bit of glory in 2024.
Grosjean is one of those drivers, who on his day could be capable of challenging for victory, but he will have to contend with his extra feisty rivals.
It’s likely that the Frenchman will be back for 2025, but it’s difficult to know where before he makes an announcement, which could come as soon as this weekend.
