Lamborghini Iron Lynx have endured a difficult first season in the World Endurance Championship after joining the Hypercar class for 2024.
The Italian manufacturer are racing with just one car compared to many other WEC teams who compete with at least two cars.
This makes battling at the front of the field quite difficult for Lamborghini, and they have failed to score a top-five finish.
The competition is at a very high level in the Hypercar class, racing against Toyota who dominated the LMP1 era.
Daniil Kvyat has been a key part of Lamborghini, driving the No. 63 car. But the team are a long way behind Porsche and Toyota, and the 30-year-old admits they have work in front of them. He also told Formule1.nl that drivers don’t have a lot of influence in certain areas.

Lamborghini are floundering towards the foot of the championship, scoring points just three times this season with a best finish of 10th overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, whilst retiring from the 6 Hours of Fuji last time out.
It is a much less experienced project than other teams such as Ferrari and even BMW, who are new to the Hypercar class but have raced with their M Hybrid V8 in IMSA.

Kvyat explained he would like to see rapid progression from Lamborghini heading into 2025 but he and his teammates have little impact on development.
He said: “At Lamborghini we have started a new project with a new car, so there is a lot of work to be done to further improve the car.
“We started from scratch, so especially in terms of development there is still a lot to do. That is an area where your influence as a driver is sometimes limited, but you are largely dependent on it. I especially hope that we can make progress quickly.”

There is one round to go in the World Endurance Championship at the 8 Hours of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Lamborghini showed an improvement in their pure pace last time out in Japan, driving in the Hyperpole part of the qualifying session.
Despite this step forward in the Italian team’s speed, Kvyat isn’t expecting a top result in Bahrain as Lamborghini’s performance package will be similar to previous WEC rounds.
The final round of the season will still provide a good opportunity to learn for Lamborghini ahead of 2025 and adapt to the circuit’s distinct surface.
