FIA Formula 3 has been a very competitive championship since its inaugural season in 2019 when Robert Shwartzman won the title.
The series has been a good proving ground for young drivers with ambitions of moving up to Formula 1, including Oscar Piastri who won the championship in 2020 after a tense finale at Mugello.
More recently, Leonardo Fornaroli won the title this year, passing Christian Mansell on the last lap of the season, to take it from Gabriele Mini.
They have consistently had 10 teams with each outfit running three cars. The grid will look slightly different next year as Jenzer Motorsport are being replaced by DAMS.
Formula 2 and F3 CEO Bruno Michel told the FIA Formula 3 website he is looking forward to the French team joining the grid for next season and explained why they are a good fit.

DAMS will join the Formula 3 grid in 2025, adding a very experienced team to the grid and a very successful outfit.
They have been winning races for multiple years, as well as the Teams’ Championship in Formula 2 in 2019 with Nicholas Latifi and Sergio Sette Camara.
The French team are a well known quantity as they have been in the support race paddock on Formula 1 race weekends for a long time.

Michel is looking forward to them joining the grid as Formula 3 introduces a new car, which may level the playing field.
He said: “For the next three-year cycle, we have retained nine of our current teams. Their level of professionalism and expertise guarantee the best preparation for the young drivers who aspire to progress to the highest levels of motorsport.
“To complete the grid, we welcome DAMS to the list of selected teams. We know them very well from the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Their pedigree and level of performance make them the perfect addition to the F3 field.”

Next season, FIA F3 will be very closely fought, with top drivers such as Ugo Ugochukwu and FRECA champion Rafael Camara on the grid.
Hitech are also building a formidable driver lineup. Martinius Stenshorne will return for a second season alongside Gerrard Xie, who graduated from GB3.

The new car may take some adjusting for some teams in the early part of next season, as the data already gathered will be less relevant.
FIA F3 tested at Jerez after the season ended. Charlie Wurz participated and is looking to challenge for the championship after a difficult campaign this year.
