Tim Tramnitz is ascending the ladder of junior categories on the road to Formula 1 and will race in FIA F3 again next season.
The German driver will return for his second season with Dutch outfit MP Motorsport after showing steady improvement as a rookie this year.
He moved to FIA F3 after being very competitive in FRECA and the Italian F4 Championship, battling 2025 Mercedes F1 driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli in 2023.
Tramnitz became a consistent frontrunner in Formula 3 this year and took his only win during the final round at Monza in the Sprint Race.
The Red Bull junior has now told Feeder Series that he has two goals in mind ahead of the 2025 FIA F3 season which could be pivotal to Tramnitz’s career.

FIA F3 is a significant step up from any other series further down the ladder, as the 30-car field often creates chaotic racing.
The drivers also have to deal with the pressure of racing on a Grand Prix weekend and the added finances required to race at that level.
Formula 3 is also a difficult series to adapt to as the Pirelli tyres are tricky for a rookie to understand. Learning street circuits such as Monaco and Albert Park is also challenging for any driver.

Tramnitz explained that he is targeting a future move to Formula 2 but wants to gather valuable experience behind the wheel in FIA F3 first next year. The 19-year-old also admits he may need to find more backing to have the budget for F2.
He said: “I think for me another year in F3 would make sense. It would be another opportunity to fight for the championship, and also just learn a bit more.
“I feel like I would, of course, like to do the step to F2 but you can never forget the budget side of things. So, it’s one more year to find also some budget and to gain experience.”

The junior categories are becoming more expensive, which can make it difficult for talented drivers who lack the money to compete.
This can create a situation where the most talented drivers can’t secure a drive in a top team, which makes it difficult to deliver strong results.
If Tramnitz can secure a substantial budget for a Formula 2 seat for 2026, then he may be able to race for a top team.
This could allow the German to race at the front more effectively over the season as he looks to knock on the door of F1.
There will be a very competitive field in FIA F3 next season he must overcome first, though. There are many experienced drivers such as Nikola Tsolov, who is rediscovering working with Campos, who are also returning in 2025.
