Arvid Lindblad has had a very impressive junior career after challenging for the championship in Italian F4 and FIA F3 in consecutive seasons.
The British driver took an unpopular route to Formula 3, moving straight from Formula 4 to FIA F3 without gathering experience in FRECA or GB3.
Lindblad won four races this season for PREMA, including the Sprint Race at the season opener in Bahrain and a double victory at Silverstone.
The Red Bull junior may also soon be a key reason behind a change the FIA could make to F1’s super licence rules as he continues to knock on the door of Formula 1. Lindblad will graduate to Formula 2 with Campos Racing for the 2025 season.
Dre Harrison explained on the Driven To Succeed podcast that Red Bull believes Lindblad is a top talent, and he could be behind a change to the super licence rules in the near future.
F1’s super license rules could change because of Arvid Lindblad and Red Bull’s ‘influence’
The super licence in Formula 1 only permits drivers 18 or older to compete in the world championship, a rule which was brought in after 17-year-old Max Verstappen made his debut with Toro Rosso in 2015.
Earlier this year, the FIA adjusted the rules slightly to allow 17-year-old drivers to compete at its “sole discretion”, which may assist Lindblad.

The British driver is too young to drive in Formula 1, as he turned 17 in August, although Red Bull may be looking to influence a tweak to the super licence rules. This could allow Lindblad to compete in FP1 sessions on Grand Prix weekends very soon.
Harrison explained that Lindblad is talented and he could influence the rule change: “A lot of talk about him, a lot of talk about the super licence rules coming into play and possibly changing because of Lindblad and Red Bull’s influence. So, they clearly believe very strongly in this kid. So, a lot to look forward to.”
Arvid Lindblad could be a contender in Formula 2 next season
Lindblad will step up to Formula 2 for the 2025 season with Campos, a team who have been very successful this season, particularly with fellow Red Bull prospect Isack Hadjar.
Campos should be a good environment for Lindblad to develop next season as they understand how to put together a championship-challenging campaign.
Lindblad will also be returning to tracks such as the Bahrain International Circuit and Silverstone, two tracks where he won in FIA F3.
But the F2 car will be a step up with a lot more power than the Formula 3 car, and the added complication of a turbo makes the power delivery more difficult to manage.
