Jake Dennis won the Formula E Championship in the 2022/23 season for Andretti in a superb season, so here’s everything you need to know about the British driver.
The 2022/23 campaign saw Dennis take two wins on his way to the Formula E title ahead of his nearest rival, Nick Cassidy, with Mitch Evans in third.
The Andretti driver has taken a single title in Formula E and has driven in a range of cars from single-seaters to GT3 cars and prototypes.
He is also the development driver for the Red Bull Formula 1 team and played a critical role in the outfit’s recent double championship-winning success in 2023.

Dennis took at least one victory in the first four of his seasons in Formula E for Andretti under its various guises, kicking off with BMW branding on the car in the 2020-21 season.
After driving in a range of cars from LMP2 in the World Endurance Championship to an Aston Martin Vantage in the DTM, he settled in Formula E.
The British driver partnered with Maximilian Gunther during his debut season and challenged for the championship in an impressive first year.
A couple of victories at Valencia and the London ePrix allowed Dennis to put together a title-challenging campaign, ultimately losing out by eight points.
His second season didn’t yield another push for the championship, although the Andretti driver did take his second consecutive victory at his home event in London.
A tough field, including former Formula 1 drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Sebastian Buemi, proved to be very high-level competition.
Dennis stood on the podium just four times with his victory at home in London being the only time he stood on top of the rostrum.
His championship year followed and it got off to the perfect start with a win in Mexico City to kickstart his title challenge.
A couple of trips to the podium followed in Saudi Arabia with two, second places before a run of four rounds without a point.
Finishes outside the top 10 in India and South Africa were compounded by a retirement on the streets of Sao Paulo and another disappointment in Berlin at the start of a doubleheader.
After a multitude of podiums, Dennis returned to the top step of the podium in Rome before two more podiums in London, the final round of the season.
But the 2023/24 season followed and proved to be underwhelming. Dennis defended his Formula E title disastrously, with just one win in Saudi Arabia.
Dennis has been the development driver for the Red Bull F1 Team since 2018
Success in modern Formula 1 needs to be deep-rooted within the team and a blisteringly fast car is no longer solely enough to win championships.
Red Bull have dominated Formula 1’s ground effect regulations, which were introduced in 2022, winning consecutive drivers’ and constructors’ titles with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in 2022 and 2023. Red Bull also won the championships at a canter with Dennis as the development driver.
He began in this role in 2018 while competing in a multitude of GT series as Red Bull tried to get on terms with Mercedes and Ferrari in their final year with Renault power units.
He tested the Red Bull RB8, which performed admirably in the 2012 season, taking Sebastian Vettel to his third consecutive title.
Dennis explained via silverstone.co.uk that the test was a surprise as he had committed to sports cars. “The 2018 test was a very unexpected call-up,” he said. “It was at a stage where I was racing in sports cars and I wasn’t really looking at Formula 1.”
The British driver holds a vital role within the team based in Milton Keynes. He works with Verstappen and Perez to develop the Red Bull car and hone the setup direction, balancing his role in F1 with a full Formula E championship.
Dennis continued: “It’s a constant snowball effect of that. To try and improve the car week by week.
“With Formula E only racing until July, I have quite a lot of spare time still, and Red Bull obviously use that time wisely. From July onwards, I’m in the simulator a lot more and helping as much as I possibly can.
“Red Bull are fully onboard, they know my career is in Formula E and when they can, they’ll use me on the simulator for as many days as possible.”
