Oliver Rowland enjoyed his best season in Formula E to date with Nissan in the 2023/24 campaign.
The Brit made his debut in the all-electric series in the 2015/16 season with Mahindra Racing, finishing 13th in a one-off appearance at Punta del Este before moving onto GP2 and Formula 2, where he finished third in the latter in 2017.
Rowland joined Formula E full-time in 2018/19 with Nissan e.dams, scoring two second place finishes that year in Sanya and Monaco. The 32-year-old grabbed his first victory the following year in Berlin as finished fifth in the standings.
Rowland scored two more podiums with the team in 2020/21 before moving back to Mahindra for Season Eight. There, the Brit struggled as he scored one podium with the team before mutually agreeing to leave halfway through the 2022/23 season and was replaced by Roberto Merhi.
For Season 10, Rowland made a return to Nissan alongside Sacha Fenestraz, and the Brit found his rhythm and stormed to his best finish of his FE career.

Rowland scored points in all but seven races in 2023/24 – he missed the double header at Portland due to illness – and scored seven podiums and two wins to register his best points tally of 156.

This put Rowland fourth overall in the championship as he finished 32 points behind champion Pascal Wehrlein and considerably outperformed teammate Fenestraz who could only manage 26 points.
For Season 11, Nissan are looking to improve on their fourth place in the teams’ championship last season as the Gen3 Evo cars are introduced.
Speaking with RacingNews365, Rowland explained what areas the team need to nail down if they want to push on in FE.
“I’m excited to continue with Nissan Formula E Team after a very strong year,” he said.
“It’s been great to have some time off, I’ve been training and working with the team which has been positive.
“For next season we need to try and bring more consistency to all elements of our race weekends, whether that’s in qualifying or car development.
“Last season we executed some races perfectly, so for this season we have to maintain that progress and improve the small bits we can to continue moving further up the order.”

Nissan have ambitious plans for the future in Formula E
Nissan have confirmed Rowland for the 2025 season as he looks to challenge at the top again. The Japanese manufacturer have also confirmed his teammate, as Norman Nato will rejoin the team following his departure from Andretti.
Nato previously raced with the team in Season Nine, scoring points on eight occasions and grabbing one podium to finish 10th; his best finish in FE to date.
While the Frenchman knows the team well and has proven he can perform, Nato’s move to Nissan is being viewed as temporary, as the team are rumoured to be eyeing Antonio Felix Da Costa and Mitch Evans for Season 12.
In the meantime, Nissan boast a competent driver line-up that are capable of scoring podiums and winning races for Season 11, and they will be an outfit to look out for next year.
