Pascal Wehrlein became the ninth driver to win the Formula E drivers’ championship as he claimed the 2023/24 title.
The German beat Jaguar’s Mitch Evans by six points to the title at the final race of the season in London, with his teammate Nick Cassidy finishing third.
Jaguar secured the Teams’ Championship title over Porsche by 36 points. While Wehrlein and Antonio Felix Da Costa collectively won more races with seven, Jaguar’s consistency at the front of the field with 14 podiums gave them the advantage.
But it was Wehrlein’s consistency that allowed him to get the edge over Evans and Cassidy in the drivers’ standings. It may have been a very slim margin, but the 29-year-old proved difficult to beat with two wins, five podiums and only finished outside the points twice all year.
With Wehrlein being the driver to beat in Season 11, here are three drivers that can challenge the German for the title in Formula E in 2024/25.
Nick Cassidy
With such a strong driver pairing and their success last season, Jaguar are set to be a title protagonist again in the 2024/25 season.
Out of their two Kiwi drivers, who both registered two wins each, it was in fact Cassidy who managed the most podiums in Season 10, despite finishing behind Evans by 16 points in third.

Cassidy’s season got off to a great start, finishing third in Mexico and the first race in Diriyah, before grabbing his first win of the season at the second ePrix.
The 30-year-old scored five consecutive podiums from the second race at Misano to the first race in Shanghai, claiming one win and finishing second and third twice in that time as he put himself in a good position to win the title.
What led the Jaguar driver down was his proneness to accidents, with Cassidy suffering three retirements due to crashes and collisions with other drivers, including at the final race in London which ultimately took him out of contention.
A miserable weekend at the double-header in Portland saw him score no points in either ePrix. Besides those two races and his three DNFs, Cassidy finished inside the top five in all but two of his points-scoring finishes.
Having missed out on the title in Season Nine to Jake Dennis, Cassidy will be eager to go one step further and win the championship in Season 11. Scoring more podiums than any other driver last season, it is clear the Kiwi driver has the ability and will be one of Wehrlein’s biggest threats next year.
Oliver Rowland
The driver with the second most amount of podiums in Season 10 was Nissan’s Oliver Rowland, who registered seven podiums to finish fourth in the standings; his best finish to date.
Similarly to Cassidy, what cost Rowland competing for the title were inconsistencies and things out of his control. The Brit failed to score at the opening two races of the season in Mexico and the first ePrix in Diriyah.

The Nissan driver went on to finish on the podium in the next four races, winning the first race at the double-header in Misano. Rowland had been set to do the double in Italy, but he heartbreakingly ran out of energy before the final lap and retired from the race.
With five consecutive points finishes – including two podiums in Berlin – after his first and only retirement of the year, Rowland withdrew from the weekend in Portland with illness and was replaced by Caio Callet.
The 30-year-old returned for the season finale in London and after finishing 15th in the first race, he took victory in the second. Much like his Jaguar rival Cassidy, Rowland is capable of a result and if he can nail down some consistent results, he too could be a serious contender.
Stoffel Vandoorne
The Belgian will be joining Maserati for Season 11 from DS Penske and will be partnering Season Nine champion Jake Dennis in what is a solid driver pairing for the team.
Vandoorne won the Season Eight championship with Mercedes. Signing with Penske the following year, he was not able to reach the same heights as he failed to win a race in his two seasons with the team.

That being said, in 2023/24, the 32-year-old displayed some consistency as he finished outside the points only five times and retired once all year.
But of the points finishes he managed, only two of them were in the top five, with one podium at Monaco. Vandoorne finished the year in 10th place with 61 points.
It may be a out-there shout for the Belgian to challenge for the title, but Vandoorne is capable of producing a good result and fighting at the front, and joining an exciting project like Maserati may give him the tools to do just that.
Only Jean-Eric Vergne has won more than one FE title, and in 2024/25, Vandoorne could have the chance to grab his second with Maserati.
