Seats on the IndyCar grid are about as scarce as they have ever been, with as many as 10 drivers fighting for specific seats.
It means that there is going to be plenty of disappointed talent when Silly Season finally draws to a close, but who that will be is anyone’s guess.
The latest domino to fall was Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s announcement that standout Indy NXT champion Louis Foster will be driving for them in 2025.
That leaves just four free cockpits, with one at PREMA and RLL, and two at Juncos Hollinger Racing to be decided between now and March.
Conor Daly in ‘need to raise money’ verdict about 2025 plans
Conor Daly enjoyed a terrific return to IndyCar after a year-long hiatus, helping to secure Juncos Hollinger’s first podium and his second in the series.
It may have been eight years between rostrums, but his third place at Milwaukee came 37 years after his father achieved exactly the same feat.
The American driver offered an update on his future on his YouTube channel, revealing that it’s funding or nothing for his 2025 hopes effectively.

“My 2025 plans are who knows, but I would like to be with Juncos Hollinger Racing in IndyCar,” he said.
“That’s the plan, we just need to raise the money to get in there or something, some sort of sponsorship to get in there.”
Who else remains on the IndyCar free agent market?
There are still some high-calibre talents on the market, who are yet to be picked up for the 2025 season which everyone will be looking at.
Romain Grosjean and Rinus VeeKay are guaranteed to attract interest, with their speed and experience ranking high among other options.
Sting Ray Robb and Jacob Abel are two young guys who could also get picked up, but their little and lack of production at the highest level may put off potential suitors.

There are also two Brits in Jack Harvey and Jamie Chadwick who are searching for a chance at the highest level of motorsport in North America.
It will all fall into place before the end of the year, but who goes where shall be fascinating, with some possible career-defining moves yet to be made.
