Those that watch IndyCar, are aware that on its day, it’s one of the most exciting forms of motorsport in the world.
Most seasons end up with a championship finale, with multiple drivers in the hunt for silverware and a variety of other causes such as Rookie of the Year to be fought for.
However, viewing figures are nowhere near that of NASCAR, which has experienced far more success and has a larger fanbase.
That’s down to a variety of factors, but IndyCar has taken some encouraging steps recently, and there’s one final thing that could top it all off…
Why the likes of Daniel Ricciardo and Valtteri Bottas could be the key to success
Formula 1 is a model for all motorsport series of how to manage and execute a global expansion, rapidly growing its fanbase and revenue.
The advantage they have is that they are able to race everywhere in the world – but that may be the case for IndyCar soon with the likes of Argentina and Mexico in the picture.

Netflix’s Drive to Survive helped Formula 1 to take off back in 2018, and it has never looked back – attracting a newer and younger fanbase and attaching a storyline to the drivers on the grid.
Some of those stars are up for grabs having lost their seats on the grid for 2025, including Daniel Ricciardo who is a particular American favourite.
Valtteri Bottas isn’t confirmed as having lost his seat yet, but he too could be on the lookout for a full-time 2025 gig soon.
Is there any chance of attracting Ricciardo and Bottas?
Ricciardo has previously said that he’s too scared of IndyCar and its daunting ovals to give it a crack in a full-time capacity.
Bottas has flirted with the idea but continues to remain in the picture for a 2025 deal with Sauber alongside Nico Hulkenberg.
Having a Formula 1 race winner cross the pond to race in the series exclusively for the first time would be a first for the series.
