Full Oversteer looks at the head-to-head teammate battles for the 2024 MotoGP field from the riders’ points, wins and podiums to Grand Prix, qualifying and Sprint results.

The 2024 campaign saw the premier class of motorcycle racing stage a 20-round MotoGP calendar boasting 18 circuits across 15 countries. It all kicked off in March at the Grand Prix of Qatar, and continued until the curtain dropped at the Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona.

Victory at the Lusail International Circuit for Francesco Bagnaia ensured the Ducati rider got his second MotoGP title defence off to a solid start. But it was not the perfect season for the Turin native as Jorge Martin won his maiden MotoGP title, before leaving Pramac for Aprilia.

While Martin started the 2024 season looking to improve after his second place in the 2023 standings, MotoGP also welcomed Pedro Acosta to the grid as KTM promoted their Spanish sensation to the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team after sealing the 2023 Moto2 championship.

Another change to the MotoGP grid included the shock switch of Marc Marquez riding on a Ducati Desmosedici GP23 at Gresini after the six-time MotoGP champion left Honda. Ruling his head-to-head against brother Alex Marquez also sealed Marc a 2025 factory Ducati ride.

So, with that in mind, Full Oversteer looks at the head-to-head battles at each MotoGP team in the 2024 season, looking at the riders’ records in qualifying, Sprint Races and Grand Prix. Our head-to-head tables only take into account when both riders participated in the session.

Aprilia Racing: Maverick Vinales vs Aleix Espargaro 2024 head-to-head

The 2024 MotoGP season saw Aprilia keep teammates Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro for a third full season together. But it would also prove to be their final year together for the Italian outfit. Espargaro had been Aprilia’s captain since 2017, while Vinales arrived in 2021.

Injury would force Espargaro to withdraw from the Grand Prix of Germany after completing just three laps in practice, despite initially being declared fit after fracturing the metacarpal in his right little finger during the Sprint at the Dutch TT in his final year for the Aprilia team.

Trackhouse Racing: Miguel Oliveira vs Raul Fernandez 2024 head-to-head

Trackhouse Racing joined the MotoGP grid in 2024 after taking up the satellite Aprilia status RNF Racing voided. Rider pairing Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez also moved over to the new Trackhouse team after becoming MotoGP teammates for RNF during the 2023 season.

Oliveira missed the Grand Prix of Indonesia after fracturing his right wrist after a highside in Friday practice. The incident further made Oliveira miss the Grands Prix in Japan, Australia, Thailand and Malaysia, with Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori stepping up to finish the field.

Ducati Corse: Francesco Bagnaia vs Enea Bastianini 2024 head-to-head

Bagnaia led Ducati’s hopes again in 2024 after entering the season as a two-time defending MotoGP champion alongside teammate Enea Bastianini. It would be the Italian pairing’s last year together, though, after Bastianini often struggled for early race pace during Grand Prix.

Pramac Racing: Jorge Martin vs Franco Morbidelli 2024 head-to-head

Martin became the first independent team world champion in the MotoGP era with Pramac in 2024 after missing out on the 2023 crown by 39 points to Bagnaia. But despite his title bid, Ducati ignored Martin for a factory promotion. So, the Spaniard signed with Aprilia for 2025.

Gresini Racing: Marc Marquez vs Alex Marquez 2024 head-to-head

The Marquez brothers became teammates for the second time in MotoGP as Marc followed Alex to Gresini for the 2024 season after quitting Honda, with whom Alex made his premier class debut in 2020. Marc’s results with Gresini also secured him a 2025 factory Ducati ride.

VR46 Racing Team: Fabio Di Giannantonio vs Marco Bezzecchi 2024 head-to-head

Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Racing Team secured Fabio Di Giannantonio for their rider line-up for 2024 after he left Gresini. The Rome native formed an all-Italian line-up beside Rimini native Marco Bezzecchi, who debuted in MotoGP for VR46 in 2022 after racing for them in Moto2.

The 2024 season proved to be Bezzecchi’s last with VR46 ahead of joining Aprilia in 2025 as a factory rider. Di Giannantonio missed the Grand Prix of Australia after crashing in practice, before also skipping the final two rounds of the year to undergo surgery on his left shoulder.

Honda Racing: Joan Mir vs Luca Marini 2024 head-to-head

Marc Marquez ending his 11-year relationship with Honda at the close of the 2023 MotoGP season saw the Japanese brand sign Luca Marini as Joan Mir’s new teammate. The RC213V proved to be an uncompetitive bike, however, with Mir and Marini battling from the back.

Mir also had to sit out the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera owing to intense gastroenteritis. While Marini would start the Sprint at the first of two rounds at Misano, the Urbino native also withdrew from the Grand Prix having awoken with a fever that morning.

Honda LCR Team: Johann Zarco vs Takaaki Nakagami 2024 head-to-head

The 2024 MotoGP season saw Johann Zarco become the teammate of Takaaki Nakagami for Honda LCR after leaving Pramac. It would be their only term as stablemates with Nakagami moving to a HRC test rider role for 2025 after seven years in MotoGP, all of which with LCR.

KTM Factory Racing: Brad Binder vs Jack Miller 2024 head-to-head

KTM retained teammates Brad Binder and Jack Miller for a second straight season in 2024. But a tough start to the year as rookie Acosta excelled for the satellite GASGAS Tech3 team from the off saw KTM replace Miller for 2025. The Australian sealed a Pramac ride for 2025.

GASGAS Tech3 Team: Pedro Acosta vs Augusto Fernandez 2024 head-to-head

Acosta continued to climb the championship ladder in 2024 as KTM sealed the 2023 Moto2 plus 2021 Moto3 champion a MotoGP ride with GASGAS Tech3 as the teammate of Augusto Fernandez, who joined Tech3 to register his premier class debut in 2023 but left after 2024.

MotoGP proved to be an easy transition for Acosta, who took his first podium in round two at the 2024 Grand Prix of Portugal. But a dip in form saw a run of crashes, including one in the Sprint at the Australian Grand Prix which then ruled Acosta out due to left shoulder trauma.

Yamaha Factory Racing: Fabio Quartararo vs Alex Rins 2024 head-to-head

Alex Rins secured a switch to Yamaha for 2024 as the teammate of Fabio Quartararo after an injury-hit year with LCR. Remy Gardner also replaced Rins in the Grand Prix of Germany and the British Grand Prix. Rins even also missed the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna due to illness.
