Campos Racing have completed their driver line-up for the 2025 Formula 3 season with the announcement of their third driver.

Nikola Tsolov will be making his return to the Spanish outfit for next season after starting his career with the team in the F4 Spanish Championship in 2022, where he dominated the season by winning 13 races and and the title by 113 points.

The Bulgarian will embark on his third season in Formula 3, having spent the last two seasons with ART Grand Prix. The French team have opted to move on from Tsolov and field two new drivers in the category.

Laurens van Hoepen has been retained by ART for 2025, while FRECA vice champion James Wharton will join the team from PREMA. Ferrari Academy driver Tuukka Taponen completes their line-up as he moves to a full-time seat, having made his debut in 2024 at Spa.

Pepe Marti sends encouraging message to Nikola Tsolov after switching from ART Grand Prix to Campos Racing

Tsolov signed with ART in F3 in 2023 after winning Spanish F4. The Bulgarian endured a difficult first season, as while he suffered only one retirement, he scored points twice and finished the year 22nd with 10 points.

That same year, the 17-year-old made part-time appearances in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship and Eurocup-3, scoring two podiums in the latter.

Tsolov enjoyed a much better sophomore year in F3 this season, as he claimed three victories and finished 11th in the standings. The Bulgarian was suspended from the round at Spa for competing at the circuit in Eurocup-3 without FIA approval and was replaced by Taponen.

After securing some wins in F3 with ART, Tsolov will be returning to where it all started with Campos and there will no doubt be excitement around what he can do with the team.

This has been echoed by current Campos Formula 2 driver Pepe Marti, who wrote in the comments of the announcement on Instagram: “Vamos Nikola!”

For 2025, Tsolov will be driving alongside Spaniard Mari Boya and Thai driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak.

Boya will embark on his third season in F3 and second with Campos. Moving to the Spanish outfit from MP Motorsport in 2024, the 20-year-old claimed his first win at his home event in Catalunya in the Sprint Race.

Boya finished the year in 15th, after racking up 45 points from nine points finishes across the season. Tsolov was only in the points seven times, but scored 30 more points with ART.

Inthraphuvasak scored points only once all season in 2024 with AIX Racing, that being his first podium with second in a one-two finish in Hungary. The Thai driver will be hoping for better fortunes at Campos next year than his 24th place finish last season.
