The future of Daniel Ricciardo is currently uncertain after it was announced that he will be leaving Visa Cash App RB in Formula 1.
The 35-year-old began his F1 career back in 2011 with HRT and has gone on to make 257 race starts, eight wins, three pole positions and 32 podiums in what has been a fantastic career.
Racing for the likes of Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault and McLaren, Ricciardo has established himself as a firm fan favourite for his personality and beaming smile seen up and down the paddock.
The Aussie has fallen on hard times in recent years and it has long been rumoured that he would be out of RB before the end of the 2024 season.
Now, with six races to go, that has become a reality as Liam Lawson will step into the car in Ricciardo’s place. This has now left the Aussie’s future up in the air as he decides where to make his next move.

Numerous key figures inside and outside the F1 circle flooded Ricciardo’s Instagram comments with messages of support and celebration for such a brilliant spell in F1 over the years.

There are a number of categories which Aussie could consider, including WEC and NASCAR, with Ricciardo previously stating he would love to drive around Daytona.
IndyCar has been mentioned as a potential option, but Ricciardo has labelled the series as ‘scary’ and seems to not want to venture into it at this stage.
In the wake of such comments and his F1 exit, former F1 and current Andretti driver Marcus Ericsson made an attempt to persuade Ricciardo to come and give IndyCar a try in his comments section on Instagram.
The Swedish driver wrote: “You’re the man DR. First class person and driver. Always fun racing you through the years! And hey, it’s not too late to change your mind about IndyCar! I promise you would love it over here.”
Is IndyCar a realistic option for Daniel Ricciardo?
Ricciardo may think that IndyCar is daunting at this moment in time, but the championship is a good option for the Aussie’s next adventure in his career.
However, it may not be realistic for 2025, as the IndyCar grid nears its completion and there are only a limited number of seats available.
The seats that are available will more than likely be going to other drivers who have IndyCar experience and have been on teams’ radar for some time.
This will most likely leave Ricciardo – even if he wanted to race in it which seems to not be the case at this point – out of IndyCar for next season, much like Logan Sargeant who may have to wait until 2026 to get his chance.
Where Ricciardo will end up next is anyone’s guess, but when his next challenge is confirmed, everyone will be watching and supporting the Aussie wherever he goes.
