Nico Muller had a ‘range of offers’ in Formula E before signing a deal with Andretti for Season 11, according to reports.
The Swiss driver will join the American team following his departure from ABT for the 2024/25 season to partner former world champion Jake Dennis.
Muller comes off his best finish in the championship to date with 12th and Muller said that it is an ‘honour’ to be joining Andretti, one of motorsport’s most historic names.
But the 32-year-old reportedly had other offers from teams on the table as Formula E heads into the Gen3 Evo era.
Nico Muller had offers from two other Formula E teams before signing with Andretti
It was announced in early July that Muller would be leaving ABT at the end of the 2023/24 season, and it had been reported that the Swiss driver was in negotiations with Porsche to become a factory driver.
In a report by The Race, Muller had initially been lined up to replace former champion Antonio Felix da Costa at the manufacturer’s official Formula E team.
But after the Portuguese driver’s impressive run of form at the end of the season, which included four wins in the final seven races, da Costa was retained by Porsche for Season 11.

With Muller and Porsche’s negotiations still ongoing and Andretti being powered by the German manufacturer, they had to go to ‘Plan B’ for the Swiss driver.
And along with his offer from Andretti, Muller had reportedly had a new contract offer from ABT, as well as a deal with Maserati MSG Racing, with the latter including the opportunity to stay with Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship.
But following the announce of his departure from ABT, Muller informed Maserati of his decision to not join the team as his plans with Porsche were becoming more concrete. Maserati ultimately went on to sign Jake Hughes and former champion Stoffel Vandoorne.
Andretti finished as the best customer team in Season 10
Andretti have been in Formula E since the inaugural season in 2014/15 and brought title success to Jake Dennis in 2022/23.
The American outfit has finished outside the top five in the teams’ championship twice in the last six years, and in Season 10, the team finished the best of the customer teams in fifth place.
Of the five podiums the team achieved, Dennis grabbed four of them, which included Andretti’s only win of the season at the first race in Diriyah.
Dennis’ podiums and consistent points finishes for Norman Nato allowed the team finish ahead of Envision (powered by Jaguar), McLaren (powered by Nissan) and Muller’s then team ABT (powered by Mahindra) in the standings.
